Our Pastor 

Pastor Joshua Lawson was saved and called to preach at the early age of 8 years old and at the age of 14, God expanded his ministry to include special meetings, revivals, youth conferences, and pulpit supply services at Bible-believing churches along the Southeast region of the United States.

Originally from Cowpens, a small town in the Upstate of South Carolina, he graduated from Gettys D. Broome High School with academic honors in 2011. He received his Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree from the Believer’s Institute for Biblical Studies in 2016 and is currently working on a Master’s of Theology Degree.

Pastor Lawson became the first and only pastor of Revival Baptist Church after pastoring Beacon Baptist Church of Lexington, SC from February 4, 2018 until May 1, 2024 when Revival Baptist Church was formed as the result of a merger of Beacon Baptist Church, where he pastored, and Joel Baptist Church of West Columbia, SC after the request of Joel’s former pastor who was resigning and upon the prayerful consideration and majority vote of both congregations to form Revival Baptist from both congregations and to call Pastor Lawson as their pastor. His first Sunday as Pastor of Revival was Sunday, May 5, 2024, the church’s first official Sunday.

Before his time serving as Pastor of Revival Baptist and Beacon Baptist, he served as the Pastor of a small Independent Baptist Church in Brunswick, Maryland for a short while and upon returning to South Carolina served as the Interim Pastor of another Independent Baptist Church in Union, SC until he was called to the pastorate of Beacon Baptist.

As a young preacher, he was a member of Resurrection Baptist Church in Cowpens, SC under the leadership of his Pastor, Dr. Joseph Wampler, Jr. While at Resurrection, he was the Director of the Assisted Living Ministry, assisted with the prison ministry, and faithfully served in all areas of the church’s ministry.

Pastor Lawson was married to Victoria (“Torie”) Herbst on February 28, 2015. They currently have four precious children; Joshua Wyatt, Brian Joseph (“Joey”), Maisie Grace, and Rebecca Eleanor (“Ellie”).
